Did you use pcmcia of pcmcia-cs of the one built in kernel? If the latter, you should probably replace PCIC="i82365" with PCIC="yenta" in /etc/pcmcia.conf. If you used modules built from pcmcia-source why not to give kernel's own pcmcia a try? Suonpää...
