> Malformed Release file > ftp://ftp.se.debian.org:21/debian/dists/woody/Release > > I get the same error from different sources..
Friend of mine had this problem when he entered a bad url the first time. He solved it by deleting the downloaded Release file from the hard drive (somewhere in /target/var/ probably) then trying again with the right URL. The problem was that this file wasn't being updated after the first incorrect download, which would explain why you get the same error each time. The other post about it working after changing to unstable might be because it realizes unstable has a different Release file, or something like that...? Whether this is the case or not, look for the downloaded Release file, see what it contains, to see what is malformed about it. (Maybe post it here, or compare to what Release files should look like from a trustworthy mirror.) This would be the file at e.g.: debian/dists/woody/Release, not the one in binary-i386/ or similar. hth, Hugo van der Merwe
