Jean-Philippe, Coralie, ...
biographique.
Jean

and Collaborative Work

**Subject:** Request for Collaboration: Survey on Internet
Communication and Collaborative Work
**To:** [email protected]
---
Dear Members of the Debian French User Community,
I hope this message finds you well.
I am writing to request your support in conducting a survey focused
on the **[email protected]** mailing list.
Recently, I found myself engaged in heated discussions and exploring
multiple perspectives within this community. This experience has
inspired me to delve deeper into understanding the dynamics of
online communication and collaboration.
### Purpose of the Survey
The goal of this survey is to explore how internet-based
communication—particularly within mailing lists like ours—can foster
**collaborative work, asynchronous interaction, and personal
growth**. I aim to produce a **constructive document** that not only
sheds light on our own community but also serves as a model for
other contexts, such as:
- **Personal projects** (e.g., thematic discussions or hobbyist
groups)
- **Professional environments** (e.g., teamwork, project
coordination)
- **Geopolitical discourse** (e.g., fostering productive exchanges
instead of inflammatory statements like *"Iran must lick my boots"*,
and addressing communication barriers due to language differences,
LLM translations, or reliance on translation teams)
- **Democratic tracking of geopolitical news** to combat fake news
and disinformation
### Key Considerations
To ensure the integrity and inclusivity of this study, I propose the
following:
1. **Identity Verification:**
- Participants should provide a **brief, robot-accessible biography**
to confirm their real identity. Anonymity or the use of alternate
email addresses can hinder transparency and trust, which are
essential for meaningful collaboration.
2. **Age Verification:**
- Given the diversity of our community, it is important to tailor
discussions appropriately. Age verification can help ensure that
conversations are respectful and relevant to all participants,
whether they are younger or older.
### Request for Guidance
I would greatly appreciate your input on the following:
1. **Document Format:**
- How should the final document be structured? (e.g., report,
whitepaper, collaborative wiki, etc.)
2. **Distribution:**
- How can we effectively share the findings with the community and
beyond?
3. **Licensing:**
- Under which license should the document be published to ensure
openness and reuse?
### Topic of Study
The overarching theme of this survey is:
**"Internet Communications: A New Form of Collaborative,
Asynchronous Work and Personal Fulfillment"**
I believe this topic resonates with many of us who engage in online
communities, and I am eager to learn from your experiences and
insights.
### Next Steps
If you are willing to contribute to this survey—whether by sharing
your perspective, providing feedback, or suggesting resources—please
let me know. Your input will be invaluable in shaping a document
that reflects the diverse voices and expertise of our community.
Thank you in advance for your time, consideration, and support. I
look forward to your responses and to collaborating with you on this
meaningful endeavor.
Warm regards,
**Jean-Christophe Énée**
