Aí vão alguns palpites sem uma ordem predefinida: Verifique se os pacotes xserver-xorg-video-vesa ou xserver-xorg-video-via estão instalados Mova o /etc/X11/xorg.conf para /etc/X11/xorg.conf-velho e tente subir a parte gráfica (sem um arquivo /etc/X11/xorg.conf). Por um acaso você não guardou o /etc/X11/xorg.conf do mandriva? Em último caso, quem sabe o pessoal de alguma loja não deixa você copiar. Dê uma olhada nos arquivos da lista e veja outras dicas para reconfigurar o XOrg.
