Pelo o que eu li da entrevista (passei rapidamente os olhos), este projeto não está diretamente ligado ao Debian, mas sim às suas distribuições derivadas e algumas outras (Suse). Segundo Bruce Perens, o objetivo é usar a Debian como ponto de partida para fazer um _core_ que seria usado por todas as distribuições, permitindo uma padronização, com o objetivo de prevenir duplicação de esforços, tanto no desenvolvimento, quanto no treinamento e suporte a estes sistemas. Parece que é coisa a longo prazo... haverá (ou houve) uma conferência...
