Amigo, se está dando esse erro acima é pq vc não seguiu todos os passos a
risca de como está no documento. Veja de novo em
/usr/share/doc/cdrecord/README.ATAPI.setup
Eu mesmo já fiz aquilo muitas vezes e fica muito bom; faz tempo que não
gravo mais CDs pela conta de root...
