A lo que hay que añadir una cosa más (el identificador con valor
arbitrario), por lo que quedaría así:
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf
Section "Device"
Identifier "Test"
Driver "intel"
Option "Backlight" "intel_backlight"
EndSection
Y ya vuelve a funcionar :-)
Y tampoco existe en mi equipo el directorio
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/
