Ha ocurrido aún una cosa más curiosa.

Desactivo en virtualbox la lectura del dispositivo
e inmediatamente el sistema linux la reconoce y
automáticamente el thunar la abre  PERO en modo_solo_lectura.

un df da:

/dev/sde1        7770112   2113952     5656160  28% /media/usb1
