puedes evitar reintalar tu actual debian desde CERO.
solo agrega la arquitectura AMD64
dpkg --add-architecture amd64
apt-get update
y listo , empiesa ainstalar tus programas en 64 bit
todo el sistema tambien se ira cambiando paulatinamente a 64bits
busca mas informacion en la WIKI de debian
