Bueno, evidentemente ten�s experiencia "interpretando" las necesidades
de los miembros de la lista.
Te cuento que el problema por el que hice la consulta ya est�
solucionado pero no as� el que adivinaste.
Las X contin�an sin funcionar
Me dicen que no pueden encontrar el font por default (fixed). Al pie te
paso toda la lista de los mensajes que me genera.
Hice un apt-cache search fixed | grep font
Sin resultados, hacienda otras b�squedas instale unos cuantos entre los
que instale los xfonts-75dpi y xfonts-100dpi que probablemente sean los
referidos aunque llamados por su tama�o.
As� fui instalando todos los paquetes de fonts, los �nicos que no pude
encontrar son los cyrilic.
Si se te ocurre (o a cualquier otro) cu�l puede ser el problema voy a
estar muy agradecido.

A ver si se te arregla con este par de "movimientos" ...
que me los voy a grabar en la frente, como root haces:
1) dpkg-reconfigure locales
y eliges es_ES ISO-....
2) dpkg-reconfigure console-data
y eliges "Select keymap from arch list" ---> Qwerty --->
---> Spanish ---> Standard ---> Standard.
Haz un logout y vuelve a entrar, prueba ahora ha instalar un paquete.
Y como esto ya me suena de m�s de una vez, y veo por donde van los tiros
te adelanto que para las Xs versi�n 4 pruebes con:
3) dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86
Procura tener a mano la documentaci�n del hardware de video (tarjeta,
monitor, etc).
A ese trinomio lo voy a bautizar con el nombre:
"Los tres mandamientos DPKG-RECONFIGURE de Potato a Woody"
