sid es la distribuci�n inestable, en la que se a�aden, cambian, corrigen paquetes de forma continuada. Tambi�n se llama "unstable".
Cuando un paquete lleva un tiempo en sid sin errores importantes para a "testing", que en la actualidad tambi�n se llama "woody". "potato" es la actual "stable". De vez en cuando se decide estabilizar la distribuci�n "testing" para generar una nueva "stable". Ahora estamos en ese momento. En cuanto se eliminen los errores cr�ticos de "testing" y se cierren algunos otros detalles de los disquetes de arranque, estabilidad de las actualizaciones, etc. woody ser� stable, potato ya no ser� stable (pasar� al archivo de distribuciones antiguas) y habr� una nueva distribuci�n testing con otro sobre nombre.
