Si ya tienes user en fstab y te sigue dando el error m�ntalo directamente:
/etc/fstab:
/dev/hda1 /mnt/C vfat rw,user,noauto 0 0
mount /mnt/C
en lugar de:
mount -t vfat /dev/hda1 /mnt/C
