Parece que lo que no puede arrancar es el servidor X. Mira el registro
en /var/log/XFree86.0.log a ver si observas alg�n otro mensaje de error.
Revisa tambi�n la configuraci�n en /etc/X11/XF86Config-4, especialmente
las rutas de las fuentes, en la secci�n 'files'.

P.D. Yo tengo XFree 4.x, si a�n tienes las 3.3.x puede que el fichero de
configuraci�n tenga un nombre un poco distinto
