Like Mike says, you can ftp to ftp.debian.org, and you can http as well. So it is just some kind of DNS problem.
However, I can reliably reproduce the DNS problem from several domains. However, they all seem to rely on ans.net for, so this probably isn't a widespread problem. I apologize for making all this noise. -- Raul
