Even though the man page, the FAQ and whatever other docs you find about diald keep showing examples of it working on cua? devices, this in NOT true. You should have it talk through a ttyS? device. It wasn't always thus, I gather, but I suspect the problem started showing up when ppp went to 2.2.0. The author of the package is aware of the problem: he actually came up with the solution (for the record). Also, make sure that you do not give pppd any options that would conflict with diald (there is a long list on the man page -- if you're using diald 0.10-2 you probably don't have the man page installed: as root do: mv /usr/doc/diald/diald.man /usr/man/man8/diald.8 to install it in the proper place. This problem was fixed in diald-0.11-3). Let me know how it goes, Giuseppe -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: 2.6.2i Comment: Processed by Mailcrypt 3.4beta, an Emacs/PGP interface iQCVAwUBMRMXzAbUFuLOCBK1AQEWJQQArPXtAIlnlVMce9fQf/IGHq2Ct2RQBoAq z/SZi2zj0hoI7FEcJTEQUrT12RVvAeB4yl6a2h9wABAgMJ7/i5MPnIiQry+Rl2i3 kWFRd/gERwjiIjuRUJQDKUV4c6cZdF/hr43vHysrGo4iZCDxrBATkC9qfkfClDc1 1d8174fcH/8= =Wyn5 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
