Uncompress them into a DOS directory, you have a debian base system on UMSDOS. Then you can start debian from DOS and dselect whatever you want. How did I make them? I installed a debian base system on a partition and then mount a UMSDOS parition. I then tarr'ed the whole thing to the UMSDOS side. I am not sure if there are some hidden problems with this method but I was able to use X, etc. I don't use it everyday so I can't say how reliable it is. The reason I stopped using it is that I think it's not worth it. A base installation takes about 14 meg on ext2 but it took 60 meg on a DOS directory with 16k clusters. Installing X and some docs, etc took it to 200 meg+. On top of this, there is also some performance penalty. UMSDOS is good for trying linux out but is not ideal for day-to-day work. /Billy Steve> -- Steve Phillips [EMAIL PROTECTED]
