Howdy,
Finally dusted off my old (almost a year) IBM laptop and installed
debian. Nice installation (although a little confusing at times).
installed ppp and all the dependent files - but here's the problem:
when I use the scripts provided - nothing! no modem activity.
then I used some scripts that I use on my other linux machine - still
nothing!
Yes - everything is pluged in
everything works fine under DOG (modem on com1)
set up modem for cua0
kernel finds and reports correct irq and address and calls it cua0
But I get nothing - not even a click or beep :(
have resolv.conf, hosts, etc all set up correctly (by the standards of my
other linux box).
What have I missed???? any thoughts
I really like debian (very logical setup) but if I can't get on the net,
well enough said.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance
