Problem with ncftp and ncurses?

After running ncftp in an rxvt, the rxvt's word-wrap breaks, and from
then on, all lines truncate.  I can fix it with "reset vt100; reset
xterm; clear", but that's kind of a hassle.  Is there a way to fix
the problem?
