Speaking of java, this isn't really to do with debian, but does anyone know
if there is a java compiler planned soon?  The only thing that is holding me
back from writing a major project with java is that the VM would be too slow,
but such features as built-in network I/O, built in threads, absolute 
portability... make it very appealing.  If only it could run at the speed of
compiled languages.
