You will lose all of your files on the DOS partition. Back them up first.
Use "fdisk" under Linux and change the partition type to "Linux native".
Run "mkfs -t ext2 <device>".
Mount the device with "mount -t ext2 <device> <directory>"
Add it to /etc/fstab if you want it mounted at boot time.
