this is done on many Terminal Servers which dont support PPP itself. Its
rather easy. You log into a Terminalserver, your loginshell on that system
is a rlogin to a remote host. The loginshell on the remote host is a pppd.
Now you only need to start a pppd on your own site and you are ready to go.

Yes, but it is combined on TCP Level into bigger Segments. I think it is
some System load, but it works pretty well.
