emacs 19.30 barfs in X (1.1 beta) SOLVED?

a single line in my .Xdefaults:

*font:  6x13

makes emacs blow up in this way, at least on my system...

changing the font to 7x13 solved the problem
(yes, I have a small screen)

both show up in xlsfonts

go figure
