Hmmm, that's a bug that I though I reported. gcc should conflict with cpp, and it should provide a sym link /lib/cpp -> /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i486-linux/2.7.2/cpp. I'm rereporting it with this mail, so be aware of the headers if you reply to this.
