To my knowledge, Debian GNU/Cygwin and LINE (that syscall dynamic
debugger that let native 386 binaries run native) both failed because
most unix software made unforgivable presumptions about file system
semantics; mainly that you could delete files that were in-use, and
rename open files ontop of other open files, etc etc.
Too much stuff is going to fail in interesting ways unless file system
semantics are fixed up somewhat.
