I've purged all the wine-related packages and reinstalled wine.
Now everything is fine. It appears that the cause of the other
issues was the missing alternatives.

In the /var/log/alternatives.log file:

update-alternatives 2025-12-02 12:52:45: run with --quiet --remove
wine.collection /usr/share/wine/collection-stable
update-alternatives 2025-12-02 12:52:45: link group wine.collection fully
removed

which occurred when I uninstalled the i386 packages (libwine:i386
in particular) since they were no longer needed:

  apt purge wine32:i386
  apt autoremove --purge
