Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I plan to request removal of bitpim unless somebody cares enough about
the package to take it over within the next few weeks. (If and when
it is removed, resurrection will be possible, just require going
through NEW again.)

The package description is
BitPim allows you to view and manipulate data on many phones from LG,
Samsung, Sanyo, and other manufacturers that use Qualcomm CDMA chips.
Depending on your phone model, you may be able to access the phone
book, the calendar, wallpapers, ring tones, and the filesystem.

The package is technically in okay shape. However, the rise of smart
phones has rendered it more or less obsolete. In particular, there
have been no upstream releases, or even commits, in years, and
https://qa.debian.org/popcon.php?package=bitpim reports that only
about 0.01% of users have used the package recently. (Also, it will
remain part of jessie, just not be in the next stable release.)

Any takers, or should I go ahead and request removal?
