hexcompare is a tool used to compare two binary or ASCII files. In overview mode, it presents a block diagram which quickly displays what's the same/different between two sets of files. --- Rationale: I think it's a good pet/toy package, suitable as exercise for any new maintainer. I found it quite usefull for quick debug sessions since it's slim and provides nice overview of changes very quickly.
