Back in the day, Progeny wrote some Python bindings for parted. Those
are the python-parted package. Several of our projects, including PGI
and autoinstall, use those bindings.
Afterwards, Red Hat wrote their own python-parted bindings. Both of us
submitted our bindings to the parted maintainer, and he preferred the
Red Hat bindings. However, he has yet (as far as I know) to merge those
with upstream parted.
Of course, Anaconda uses the RH bindings. When we went to do the
Anaconda work, we realized we needed the RH bindings ported to Debian.
So, we did them.
I'm not averse to the python-parted-rh package replacing the
python-parted one, but I want to make sure that projects using the other
one aren't still relying on it.
