Yes, it would be great to have miniupnpd in Debian. Though the linux-igd package is supposed to do more or less the same thing, neither it nor the libupnp that it depends on, are very actively maintained upstream. And last time I tried linux-igd, it was unstable for me.
miniupnpd seems to be the way to go... Note that there is a very old wnnp for the client part of miniupnp (bug 444392).
