Package: www.debian.org Version: N/A; reported 2001-11-13 Severity: normal I really don't know if I should report this to www.debian.org or ftp.debian.org, but here is it anyways:
The HTTP server that's running on ftp.debian.org (Apache/1.3.20 (Unix) PHP/4.0.6) doesn't recongize *.diff.gz of being of type text/plain. Instead, it states that they are of type application/x-gzip, which is not completely unreasonably, but has the drawback that diffs can't be viewed with most browsers. non-us.debian.org (Apache/1.3.9 (Unix) Debian/GNU PHP/4.0.3pl1) does this right: It sends Content-Type: text/plain and Content-Encoding: x-gzip. To try it for yourself: Click on the "Source Code/diff" link on any package description page of packages.debian.org (except non-us ones). - Sebastian
