Linux International has put in a request that we recognize the Linux trademark on our various pages. The original communication is attached.
I understand that it is a pain to keep up with the trademarks. From a legal perspective, however, it would be good if we did. Does anyone have an opinion on how to handle this? -- _____________________________________________________________________ Ean Schuessler [EMAIL PROTECTED] Brainfood, Inc. http://www.brainfood.com
--- Begin Message ---Hi, In times of legal issues, it would help Linux greatly if all companies that: o used the registered trademark "Linux" in their websites or marketing materials would properly attribute that mark to the owner, Linus Torvalds by including the sentence: Linux(R) is a trademark of Linus Torvalds in several countries. o had trademarks which included the word "Linux" in them (for example, "Linux International") register the trademark with the Linux Mark Institute (www.linuxmark.org), a non-profit that tracks usage of the trademark "Linux". Rest assured that this is not a "get rich quick scheme", and that all of the money paid in licensing fees goes into a war chest to protect the mark itself, which in turn protects Linux. As quickly as possible, please make sure your companies are in compliance Warmest regards, Jon "maddog" Hall -- Jon "maddog" Hall Executive Director Linux(R) International email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] 80 Amherst St. Voice: +1.603.672.4557 Amherst, N.H. 03031-3032 U.S.A.
