I'm not entirely sure who is administrating gluck's apache, hence the cross-post.
Anyways, the setting
UserDir http://people.debian.org/~*
should be
UserDir public_html
in gluck:/etc/apache/httpd.conf.
Right now the currect setting causes an infinite redirect when you load a
url like http://people.debian.org/~terpstra/
If the intention was to simply turn off user public_html directories, the
best thing to do would be to comment out
LoadModule userdir_module /usr/lib/apache/1.3/mod_userdir.so
