I'm missing the reference of [1], but anyway: The content of sponsor.html is purely up to the sponsor of the site. If they want to have an empty page there, like to hide their involvement, they have the right to :) Though, still not knowing where that [1] points to: www.debian.org currently runs on gluck which is sponsored by HP, see [2].
