1) sudo apt-get install "linux-headers" according to your default or
customized kernel
2) sudo apt-get source fglrx
3) sudo m-a a-i fglrx
To be sure to have the x-input-drivers ready:
a) sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-input-kbd
b) sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-input-mouse
4) sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
Have a look in the manual of your monitor(s). You need to know the
horizontal sync range, the vertical refresh range and the supported
resolutions of your interest.
5) sudo aticonfig --initial
--resolution=0,1280x1024,1024x768,800x600,720x576,640x480 --hsync=0,30-80
--vrefresh=0,55-75 for example.
Remarks: "aticonfig --initial ..." works only, if you have a clean
(dpkg-reconfigured) "/etc/X11/xorg.conf".
"0," before resolution etc. works on your first screen,
use "1," if you want to configure your second screen.
Please no claims, no reclamations. I publish this mini-howto in the hope
it may be usefull to you.
