Don't wait until it is too late to sign up for this newly required
certification affecting ANYONE conducting common renovation and repair
work activities on a home built before 1978. The EPA requires that all
contractors must be enrolled in the Lead RRP-Certification by September
30, 2010 in order to perform renovation, repair and painting projects in
homes, rental facilities, child-occupied facilities, and schools built
before 1978. For any contractor performing this work without the Lead
RRP Certification, the EPA may seek penalties of up to $37,500 per
violation, per day.

The $37,500 fine is because demolition, deconstruction, sanding, and
cutting generate hazardous lead dust and chips by disturbing lead-based
paint, which are proven to be harmful to both adults and children. This
is course is a necessity in order to avoid putting people in harmful
living environments, as well as costly $37,500 fines.

CleanEdison offers Lead RRP Certification in partnership with the
National Center for Healthy Housing (NCHH), an EPA-accredited training
provider. NCHH conducts research to find scientifically valid and
practical strategies for making homes safe and healthy. Through its
education and training programs, the NCHH alerts families and those who
serve them to hazards in the home environment.

By successfully completing the 5-hour online component and a 3-hour
hands-on training component course, students will become an EPA-Approved
Certified Lead Renovator trained to follow lead-safe work practices.
CleanEdison’s Certified Lead Renovator course instructs trainees to
follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination by adhering
to three fundamental principles: contain the work area, minimize dust,
and clean up thoroughly.

Many uncertified workers have been made examples of. For just 8 hours of
training, you can avoid being subject to a huge, $37,500 fine per
violation, per day!
