Letter of Introduction
Theatre-in-Education: National Schools Tour
Good morning and please allow me to introduce myself as Mr. Wilf Mahne,
Marketing Manager at The Riverside Theatre Company.
For over 22 years we have been providing South African schools with educational
and entertaining live theatre productions. Produced within the safety and
comfort of your school, we travel to all cities, villages, townships and
communities performing sophisticated productions both indoors and out. The aim
is to expose your students to the magic of theatre - at your school and all,
for less than the price of a cup of coffee.
2020 has been most disruptive and we thought that it may be nice to end the
year positively by bringing your students some year-end, fun-filled
entertainment. As of November we are offering both Primary and High Schools a
choice of 4 high-end productions:
• The Princess & the Pea
• A History of Talkin’ eNgaleesch!
• Beauty & the Beast and…,
• An Interview with William Shakespeare
As a teacher it’s impossible to gauge the quality of an unseen production. Your
school, after all, has an obligation to uphold a certain quality, creed and
tradition. Perhaps you have no understanding of Who We Are nor the Quality nor
Content of the Work that your students will be exposed to. It is for this
reason that I have attached a http://rtctheatre.net providing a brief
Production Description as well as Comments from the many schools who have
already enjoyed the choice of shows we now offer to you. The website also
provides short Audio Clips hopefully providing a feel of the show and the
quality of work we are known to produce. It should also be noted that, with an
expanded repertoire of additional works, bookings for the 1st term of 2021 are
now open.
