Dear fellows,
I'm trying to install my woody but can't start the X window driver.
I've changed yet the video card - before Hercules 128 Video, now ELSA Erazor III LT - but can't deal with X in any way.
I set the bus id to PCI:01:00:00 for the lspci routine told me it has found a "nVidia" driver at 01:00.0 .
In the attached log file You will see that the video card chip RIVATNT2 has been found there and I think it's the correct one for an ELSA Erazor III LT.
I've chosen the "NV" driver corresponding to http://www.xfree86.org/4.1.0/nv.4.html .
I set the screen config data to depth 16, 1028x768 and horiz. 30-72, vertic. 50-120 corresponding to the monitor's manual. The monitor works fine under NT4.06 at 1024x768, vertic. 85 Hz, 65536 colours.
I can't understand what happened. I'm puzzled about the fact, that changing the video card didn't better anything. Should I check the monitor in a special way?
I'm in hope You can give me a hint for solving the problem.
