Package: xfree86-common Version: 4.1.0-16 Severity: normal If I try to run the program 'grok' (cf. package xmbase-grok) I get the following error message:

I would like to suggest to reopen the bug as problem of the X server for the following reason: My desktop computer runs Debian, my notebook RedHat Linux. If I start 'grok' locally on my RedHat system, it works fine. But if I connect from my Debian box to my RedHat notebook using 'ssh -X' and then remotely start 'grok', hence running it on my Debian X server, I get the above mentioned error message. Hence, the error appears, when grok is run on a Debian X server, and does not appear, when grok is run on a RedHat X server, no matter whether the grok binary runs on a Deian or a RedHat box. IMHO, this suggests, that the reason for the error is a subtle difference between RedHat's and Debian's XFree86 packages. I hope these informations help you to investigate the matter. (Please note that you don't need a RedHat box. Just install the xmbase-grok package and run grok to reproduce the error.) In case you need further information please ask me.
