I had the same problem and downgraded to 4.2.1-6 by visiting the Debian web and manually downloading the following packages into a separate directory, then doing "dpkg -i * in it. Things work as before now. You could frobnicate the following list into a single "apt-get" command. You might need to set your sources.list to "testing" sources and do an update first. YMMV if you need a different profile of X packages. There may well be easier methods, but I don't know them. libxaw6_4.2.1-6_i386.deb libxaw7_4.2.1-6_i386.deb xbase-clients_4.2.1-6_i386.deb xdm_4.2.1-6_i386.deb xfonts-100dpi_4.2.1-6_all.deb xfonts-75dpi_4.2.1-6_all.deb xfonts-base_4.2.1-6_all.deb xfonts-scalable_4.2.1-6_all.deb xfree86-common_4.2.1-6_all.deb xlibmesa3-gl_4.2.1-6_i386.deb xlibmesa3-glu_4.2.1-6_i386.deb xlibs_4.2.1-6_i386.deb xserver-xfree86_4.2.1-6_i386.deb xterm_4.2.1-6_i386.deb xutils_4.2.1-6_i386.deb x-window-system-core_4.2.1-6_i386.deb -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
