Probably because loading it manually made it find no devices since it wasn't in discovery mode, and when that phase happens (see the evdev lines), synaptics has already been loaded and registered to have failed? > Contents of /etc/X11/xorg.conf: > […] > Section "Module" > Load "synaptics" > EndSection > […] You probably want to remove that part.
