The machine in question is at my workplace. I'll try a full-up
squeeze/kde install into a spare partition when I get a chance.
Hopefully sometime this week if the (NorthEast USA) weather co-operates.

could you please tell us how it goes with the X stack from
squeeze/sid, or from experimental? Moving the xorg.conf file aside
might be a good idea, since autodetection should do everything for you
in most cases.
