Bingo! glxgears did not work, and after setting vblank_mode=0 it started working. Still Gnome3 wasn't workind and the radeon numbers at /proc/interrupts were 0. Finally we tried 'noapic' that did not work and then pci=nomsi solved the problem :D The bug can be closed if there is nothing you can do from a packaging perspective. Thanks a lot!!
