Yes. That looks very much like my problem. It is a bit of a show stopper on netbooks. Any chance of debian applying one of the suggested patches, or is there likely to be fairly quick action on the main release? Otherwise, I guess I could try and patch and compile myself, although I don't fancy that on a netbook...
