found 640464 276-1 thanks Similar problem after doing a next search in "less", while an Emacs window was partially covering the xterm window. The part above the Emacs window was drawn with incorrect characters. Moving the Emacs window over the xterm window (without touching xterm) made the display problem disappear, showing that this is just a rendering bug.
