X maintainers are also release team members, and busy trying to get wheezy out. There's even no wheezy-backports suite right now. But yeah, if time permits, I might try and backport parts of the X stack to stable during its lifetime. As you noted, documentation wants to be updated; but I'm going to concentrate on releasing wheezy first. Mraw, KiBi.
