Hi Tetralet, according to the changelog, the offending change was performed to fix #255701, by grabbing upstream CVS changes which were performed because of http://bugzilla.xfree86.org/show_bug.cgi?id=544 Thus your solution will surely reopen #255701, or did I miss something? It seems that no committers have a good understanding of those CJK issues, so I am going to ask for help on debian-i18n.
