Hi, this is not a bug. The key labelled Alt is the Meta key, which people use to write Umlauts and similar things:
http://fsinfo.noone.org/~abe/typing-8bit.html xterm is a Unix terminal emulator. Unix terminals do not have an Alt key, that is a PC/Windows® thing. Applications such as irssi, that incorrectly say to use, for example, Alt-1 to do an action, should instead document that, correctly, Esc+1 is the way to invoke that action. So, for your GNU nano example, it’s Esc+w. bye, //mirabilos -- 13:37⎜«Natureshadow» Deep inside, I hate mirabilos. I mean, he's a good guy. But he's always right! In every fsckin' situation, he's right. Even with his deeply perverted taste in software and borked ambition towards broken OSes - in the end, he's damn right about it :(!
