I found the "new" highlighted paste to be very annoying.  I found a fix for it.  
Just put the following in a file in /etc/profile.d named "something.sh" (it 
needs the .sh).  I also like to sometimes copy up to and including the linefeed 
at the end.  That way I just have to past and not hit return.

## get rid of this stupid highlight and past mode

bind 'set enable-bracketed-paste off'


Observe the quotes also or it won't work.
