I have also ugly fonts after upgrading Xfree86 from 4.1.0-15 to 4.2.1-6. It's
not really the same issue, but it's near. I know another person how have the
same issue after an upgrade. Before the upgrade, all runs great.
configuration file XF86Config-4 :
Section "Files"
FontPath "unix/:7100" # local font server
# if the local font server has problems, we can fall back on these
FontPath "/usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc"
...
The xfs server doesn't work :
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ xfsinfo
xfsinfo: no font server defined.
I can't say if the font server worked before the upgrade or if the font
management was done by X.
I will search what's wrong in the font mangement.
