Maybe. There was a cookie, but I cannot possibly say if it got changed
during the session. I have been experiencing some strange behaviour with
vim too - every now and then it reports that file that I'm editing has
changed on the file system. It's got to do with the fact that my home
dir is nfs mounted.
Anyway, the thing seemed to be related to xautolock, and I had to stop
using it. Maybe I should try again, there's been a couple of updates of
xfree86 packages since...
Cheers,
Srdjan

Sorry, I sent this to the wrong address back in April.
I strongly suspect something removed the authorization cookie for your
session from the .Xauthority file.

I have no other reports of this, and have not been experiencing it
myself. Are you sure your ~/.Xauthority didn't get clobbered somehow?
